THOUSAND OAKS : 4 Arrested in Theft of Car from Woman
A Thousand Oaks man and three teen-agers were arrested Saturday shortly after a Thousand Oaks woman was accosted in a parking lot and her car was stolen, sheriff’s officials said.
At 11:55 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Lucky store at 740 N. Moorpark Road, four men knocked down a 20-year-old Thousand Oaks woman and stole her wallet and car, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gregg Whitesell said.
Shortly after midnight, Deputy Vince Camou saw a car matching the description of the stolen car near Waverly School, at Montgomery and Old Farm roads, Whitesell said.
Camou stopped the car and “all four exploded out of the car in four different directions,” Whitesell said. Camou also found a military assault rifle on the ground beside the car, Whitesell said.
Joseph Daniels, 20, of Thousand Oaks was arrested on suspicion of strong-arm robbery and grand theft auto, Whitesell said. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the Ventura County Jail.
The other three suspects, whose names were not released because of their ages, are being held at juvenile hall, Whitesell said.
