Allijeba Wins at Sportsman’s Park
Allijeba, a 6-year-old roan gelding, closed with a rush on the outside Saturday to win the $262,800 National Jockey Club Handicap at Sportsman’s Park.
Whiz Along finished second, 1 1/4 lengths back, in the 1 1/8-mile feature.
Sound of Cannons took third, three-quarters of a length further back but almost three lengths clear of All Flags Flying.
Home At Last, who set all the pace as the 13-10 favorite, faltered after one mile and finished fifth. He was followed by Black Ship, Theo’s Machine and Dotsero.
The winner, ridden by Shane Sellers, paid $8.20 to win and was timed in 1:50 2/5.
