THE U-HAUL FAMILY
Truly the saddest and most significant statement about this dysfunctional family came from one of U-Haul’s first regional vice presidents, Bert Miller:
“I’ve seen him (L. S. Shoen) and his first wife, Anna Mary, sit down and order a meal--one plate and two forks. Damnedest fight you ever saw who was gonna get the most.”
The entire picture might have been different if the last half of that statement had been “who was gonna give the most.”
