MUSIC NOTES : Master Chorale Announces Four-Concert Season

The Master Chorale of Orange County will open its four-concert 1991-92 series with a program of operatic arias and choruses on Oct. 20 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Music director William Hall also will conduct a holiday program on Dec. 15 and Bach’s Mass in B minor on March 15, both at the Center, and a Maurice Durufle program on May 17 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. All programs begin at 7:30 p.m.

Series tickets: $43 to $126 before Aug. 1; $48 to $140 afterward. Single tickets, available one month before each performance: $12 to $35. Information: (714) 556-6262.

William H. Roberts and Richard G. Engel, both of Newport Beach, were elected chairman and president, respectively, of the Opera Pacific board of directors at the Costa Mesa-based company’s annual meeting on Tuesday.

Floss Schumacher, chairwoman of the board since 1987, was named chairman emeritus. She recently moved to Palm Desert.

Other new board members include James W. Conte, Anthony C. Duffy, Georgia Frontiere, Jerry Harrington, Daniel Hernandez, A. David Holland Jr., Lucia Ana Huhan and Anwar Shah.
