VENTURA : Year-Round Schools Registering Students

Share

Registration is under way for new students at five of the six year-round schools in the Ventura Unified School District.

The new school year is scheduled to begin July 29.

The five schools are Arnaz, E.P. Foster, Oak View and Sheridan Way elementary schools and De Anza Middle School. Mound Elementary, the only eastern Ventura school on a year-round schedule, held registration last spring and has a waiting list.

Three of the schools--Arnaz, Oak View and De Anza--are converting to the year-round calendar for the first time, and some parents may be unaware of the early registration period, a district official said.

The first day of class for students at the district’s other schools is Sept. 3.

Parents of kindergarten or first-grade students who are enrolling in the district for the first time must bring a birth certificate or other proof of birth date.

Proof of immunization against diseases including mumps, measles, polio and diphtheria is also required for enrollment, and first-grade students are required to have a physical examination.

New bus routes have been initiated this year, and bus schedules for year-round students will be posted at each school office beginning Monday.
