Woman Gets 2-Year Sentence for Child Abuse

CROWN POINT, Ind. —
A woman was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison for keeping her 6-year-old son tied to his bed with a homemade leash to prevent him from getting out of bed at night.
Lottie DeMontigney and her former husband were arrested on charges of child neglect in Hammond on Mother’s Day after a neighbor heard the child’s plea for food and found him shackled. A judge cited DeMontigney’s extensive history of child abandonment and abuse in ordering prison time.
