An El Rio resident was injured by a shotgun blast Wednesday night while he was talking with friends on a residential street, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Jorge Mendez Blanco, 22, was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was treated for pellet wounds to the head and released, according to a sheriff’s report and a hospital spokeswoman.

Blanco was in front of a home on Balboa Street in El Rio, an unincorporated area next to Oxnard, when two males who appeared to be teen-agers walked by about 10 p.m., the sheriff’s report said.
