Titans Lose Again at Utah State

Cal State Fullerton assistant coach Leon Wood stood on the sidelines in the Spectrum on Saturday night as the Titans warmed up for their game against Utah State. He said it was “unbelievable” that Fullerton had not won in Logan since the 1981-82 season, when Wood was a Titan sophomore.

Fullerton’s struggle continued with an 89-72 Big West Conference loss to the Aggies before 7,556 Saturday. It was the Titans’ 10th consecutive defeat in Logan.

Utah State (8-3 overall, 2-1 in the Big West) won its sixth game in a row. It was the fourth consecutive loss for Fullerton (4-8, 0-3).

The game swung on the foul trouble of Fullerton point guard Aaron Sunderland, who picked up his fourth with 7 minutes 20 seconds left in the first half. The Titans had to turn to inexperienced junior Brian Wood, who had played 10 minutes before Saturday’s game.

He scored one point and failed to hit any of his three shots from the field.

Carlito DaSilva led Utah State with 22 points.

Fullerton’s Joe Small, emerging somewhat from a slump, made six of 15 shots, including two three-pointers, for 19 points and seven assists. Sean Williams scored a career-high 19 points.
