THE NEW WAVE: If Eric Diehl of Mission Viejo earns a spot on the Olympic swim team during the U.S. trials next week in Indianapolis (C20), he’ll give some of the credit to Terry Stoddard, his coach at the Mission Viejo Nadadores. No longer can coaches “just tell you to swim a lot of meters and give a little technical advice,” says Diehl, 18. Now they have to “plan out your training.” . . .
