LONG BEACH : United to Depart, Leave Airport With 3 Carriers

Share

United Airlines said Thursday it will drop service to Long Beach on April 30 after nine years, leaving only three carriers serving the city.

“The service out of Long Beach has been unprofitable for us,” said United spokesman Joe Hopkins. The departure of United, which offers three flights a day to San Francisco, will leave Long Beach with airline service from American, America West and Alaska.

In the past two years, Continental, Delta, TWA and USAir have also discontinued service to the airport.
