2 Van Nuys Men Killed in Car Crash
Two Van Nuys men were killed when their car slammed into a light pole after sideswiping three other cars, Los Angeles police reported Saturday.
Julian Ramirez, 24, and Jose Serrano, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene at Woodman Avenue and Saticoy Street in Panorama City, Sgt. Mel Cunningham said. The accident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Ramirez was driving south on Woodman Avenue at a high rate of speed and passing cars on the right when his car struck a parked vehicle, Cunningham said.
Ramirez’s car then careened into another car traveling in the same direction, ran a red light and struck a third car making a left-hand turn before hitting a light pole in the center divider, killing Ramirez and Serrano, his passenger.
There were no other injuries.
Police said the accident appeared to be alcohol-related, Cunningham said.
