BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Phillies’ DeJesus Will Have Surgery
Right-hander Jose DeJesus of the Philadelphia Phillies will undergo arthroscopic surgery Tuesday in Los Angeles to determine the severity of a torn rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder.
DeJesus, the third starter in the Phillies’ five-man rotation, was sidelined because of a sore shoulder in spring training and started the season on the disabled list.
Reliever Mark Williamson of the Baltimore Orioles was put on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of an inflammation in his right elbow.
The club recalled rookie right-hander Alan Mills from its triple-A Rochester team. Mills is expected to join the Orioles for today’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
