RESEDA : Council OKs Permit for Church, School
The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday granted a permit to allow construction of a 3,420-square-foot church and a preschool for 36 children on Tampa Avenue in Reseda.
Councilwoman Joy Picus, who represents the area, backed the permit application by the Rev. Kuen Kim of the Full Gospel United Church of the Valley. The permit imposes 32 land-use conditions on the church-school facility, planned to be built at 8131 Tampa Ave.
The council action overturned an earlier decision by the city Board of Zoning Appeals to deny the application. Several homeowners opposed the project, saying it would disturb the residential character of the neighborhood. But Picus maintained that a church was appropriate to the site, said Joy Nuell, her press secretary.
