Schoolchildren on the Rioting

Share

My name is D’Anne Glasgow and my class is mixed with Latinos, Asians, blacks and whites. I am black and I understand about what is going on in Los Angeles. We all have to pull together, not only minorities, but whites also. It is not only one thing that caused this rioting and looting. It is the Rodney King case, the Korean woman who shot the black girl and many other issues. Like my teacher said, every bad thing that happens comes very close to lighting the dynamite and the King verdict was the match that lit the last stick of dynamite. People have been oppressed for so long, they are just fed up.

We all need to pull together and help our community win this battle. The only way is to come together as one and treat each other with respect. The police and the government need to look at the reason why people became so angry. They need to start treating everyone with respect.
