Richly Royal Is Winner in Hollywood Park Feature
Richly Royal passed the leaders just before the stretch and opened up for a 2 1/2-length victory over Turkish Lord in the turf allowance feature Wednesday at Hollywood Park.
Richly Royal, the 2-1 favorite with Alex Solis aboard, stayed within two lengths of leaders Fabulous Bolger and River Of Green early in the 1 1/8-mile race and took command leaving the quarter pole.
Turkish Lord, who started slowly, closed strongly and beat Ruthless Monarch by a half-length. Thinkernot was fourth, followed by River Of Green and Fabulous Bolger.
Richly Royal, who was timed in 1:48, paid $6.40, $4.20 and $3.20.
A 3-year-old trained by Wayne Lukas, Richly Royal had won two consecutive claiming races and was making his first appearance in an allowance. He earned $18,700 to increase his lifetime earnings to $52,425.
