Barry Registers to Run for D.C. Council Seat

WASHINGTON —
Former Mayor Marion Barry has registered to run in the fall for a Washington, D.C., City Council seat, officials said Wednesday.
Barry, released from federal prison in April after serving six months for cocaine possession, picked up petitions, registered as a candidate and formally changed his address to an apartment in Ward 8, the poorest section of the district. The primary election is Sept. 15.
