Karch Kiraly and Kent Steffes set a Pro Beach Volleyball record by winning their 11th consecutive title. They beat Mike Dodd and Pat Powers, 15-4, to win the Miller Lite Open at Grand Haven, Mich.
The former record of 10 consecutive tournament victories was set by Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos in 1986.
Kiraly said the pursuit of this record was one of the reasons he decided to remain retired from the U.S. national team and not go to Barcelona.
“Had I gone to the Olympics, this would not have been possible, and I might have lost Kent for good as a partner,” Kiraly said.
