Comarco Profit Sets Record for Quarter

Comarco Inc., offsetting cuts in its defense contracts with ventures in other industries, reported a record profit of $707,000, or 13 cents a share, for its latest fiscal quarter. That was up 10% from earnings of $641,000, or 12 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier.

The computer-products and engineering company, based in Anaheim, said revenue for the three months ended Aug. 2 rose 10% to $21.1 million from $19.2 million.

Comarco’s latest profit was the highest for any second fiscal quarter in its 32-year history. The company has been developing new products for the cellular communications and the notebook computer industries. It also provides management services for National and Dulles airports in Washington.

The company’s profit for the first half of its fiscal year rose 17% to $1.4 million, or 25 cents a share. Sales rose 13% to $42.2 million.
