A Marine who was shot last week by an ex-boyfriend on the El Toro military base died Wednesday afternoon, hospital authorities said.

Staff Sgt. Deborah L. House, 31, died at 2:45 p.m. at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.

House was shot in the head Friday while on duty at the base. Military police arrested former Marine Aldaten Leonard Bush immediately afterward.

The shooting capped six years of harassment and threats that Bush directed at House because of a dispute over their 8-year-old son, according to a court affidavit filed by the FBI.

A bystander, Cpl. Patrick D. Crudup, 20, was also wounded in the head during the shooting. Crudup was discharged from Western Medical Center-Santa Ana late Monday, said hospital spokesman John Boop.

Bush is being held in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center without bail pending his arraignment Sept. 14.

House had been stationed at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station for three years.
