General Dynamics Announces More Layoffs: The St. Louis-based aerospace contractor said it will trim the work force of its Space Systems division by 10% to 15% over the next several months. The across-the-board reduction will affect mainly the division’s San Diego and Cape Canaveral, Fla., operations, which employ a total of 4,400 people. Between 440 and 660 employees will be laid off, spokeswoman Julie C. Andrews said. Sixty-day notices will start going out to employees in the next few weeks, she said. Most of the division’s employees, 3,100, are located in San Diego.
