BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Triple-A Affiliation Switched
The Angels will switch their triple-A team from Edmonton to Vancouver for at least two seasons beginning in 1993, the club announced Wednesday.
The Vancouver Canadians, a Pacific Coast League team since 1978 and part of the Chicago White Sox organization since 1989, reached a two-year agreement with the Angels, who had been affiliated with Edmonton since 1983. The Trappers won the PCL title in 1984.
“The Vancouver organization has a long tradition as one of the better-operated franchises in professional baseball,” said Bill Bavasi, Angel director of minor league operations. “We are fortunate to be associated with such a fine organization while improving our position geographically.”
