COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Cal’s White Is Bothered by Injuries

California tailback Russell White, also bothered by an elbow injury, won’t practice before Thursday because of a groin injury, Cal Coach Keith Gilbertson said, but he added that White is expected to play against USC on Saturday at the Coliseum.

What would it take to keep him out?

For the record: Because of an editing error, it was incorrectly reported Tuesday that USC has given up an average of 230.3 yards this season. The Trojans have given up 270.5.

“A broken leg, maybe, a couple of thigh bruises--things of that nature,” said White, who rushed for 229 yards against USC last season, a record for a Trojan opponent, during a 52-30 Cal victory at Berkeley. “But I’m going to be smart about it.”
