Malibu : Blue Water Festival Planned

Malibu, so often the site of heated environmental battles, will attempt to step back from all the controversy and celebrate its natural beauty at a festival Sunday at the Michael Landon Community Center.

The first-ever Blue Water Festival will include live music, a surfing museum, a water quality laboratory and Chumash dancers, Indians whose ancestors originally inhabited the region. In addition, an environmental fair featuring 15 leaders in coastal ecology is planned.

The event is scheduled to run from noon until dusk.
