SAN DIEGO : Woman Killed in Drive-By Shooting
A woman was fatally shot while standing with her boyfriend at a San Diego street corner Tuesday night, a police spokesman said.
Stephanie Luetta Williams, 30, was shot in the head about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, and died six hours later at Mercy Hospital, a county medical examiner spokesman said. The shooting happened at the 4000 block of 49th Street, just north of University Avenue, about two blocks from Williams’ home, officials said.
Witnesses told police Williams was shot by one of several occupants of a medium-colored four-door sedan as the car drove eastbound on Polk Avenue. The car was last seen traveling south on 49th Street, officials said.
Police said the area is known for drug and gang activity, but they have discovered no motive or suspect in the shooting, and don’t know if Williams was the intended target, Lt. John Welter said.
