Guiza Overtakes Kenbu to Win $50,000 Feature
Guiza took the lead midway through the stretch and held off Kenbu to win Wednesday’s $50,000 feature race at Hollywood Park by three-quarters of a length.
Guiza, ridden by Corey Nakatani and carrying 114 pounds, covered the one-mile turf course in 1:35 2-5 and paid $8.80, $4 and $2.80.
The victory was the fourth in 28 starts for Guiza and was worth $27,500, increasing to $336,018 the earnings of the 5-year-old daughter of Golden Act.
Kenbu, the 2-1 favorite ridden by Frederick Sanchez and carrying 111 pounds, finished three-quarters of a length ahead of Elegance and returned $4.60 and $2.80.
Elegance, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and carrying 116 pounds, was a neck in front of Sheltered View at the wire and paid $3.20 to show.
