Thousands of Kids Get Early Christmas

Share

The Feliz Navidad Project has brought Christmas to families living in six housing projects this year.

“We’re sort of a traveling circus from one project to the other,” said Henry Gonzalez, who dressed up as Santa and delivered toys to about 6,000 children. “What is really unique is that that toy may be the only toy that child receives this Christmas.”

Gonzalez, who is City Councilman Richard Alatorre’s planning deputy, and other volunteers entertained families last week at the Pico-Aliso and Aliso Village housing projects, where they had set up tents and Christmas decorations.

The nonprofit project also treats families to entertainment and groceries. Other parties were at Rose Hills on Friday and Ramona Gardens on Saturday and the festivities are to continue today at Estrada Courts and Monday at William Mead Homes.
