Televisa Acquires 50% of PanAmSat for $200 Million: Mexican media conglomerate Televisa has invested $200 million to acquire a 50% stake in private communications satellite operator PanAmSat. PanAmSat said the money, along with internal cash flow and “other financing,” will help the company expand from one to four satellites over the next several years. Televisa, which is controlled by Mexican media mogul Emilio Azcarraga, is acquiring its stake from PanAmSat founder Rene Anselmo. PanAmSat said it will be converted from a sole proprietorship to a limited partnership in which the managing general partner is controlled by Anselmo and family.
