SANTA CLARITA VALLEY : Sheriffs Search for Truck Hijackers

Share

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were searching Monday for two men who hijacked a large truck at gunpoint in Santa Clarita and stole $25,000 worth of furniture before leaving the driver bound and blindfolded in the truck’s sleeping compartment.

Truck driver Cesar Guzman, 23, of Huntington Park was parked at the Weldon Summit truck stop on the Golden State Freeway about 9 p.m. Sunday when two men opened the doors of the cab and pointed guns at him, Sgt. Michael Watner said.

The gunmen tied Guzman’s hands, blindfolded him and forced him into the truck’s sleeping compartment. They then drove the truck about an hour before unloading the cargo of household furnishings, Guzman told investigators.

After unloading the cargo, the truck was driven to Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road in Saugus, where it was abandoned. Deputies found the truck with its lights on and doors open about 3 a.m. Monday.

Guzman was not injured.
