PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Wilson Excels for Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons come into Anaheim Stadium on Sunday for their regular-season finale against the Rams with the hottest quarterback in football.
Wade Wilson, cut loose by the Minnesota Vikings last year, has stepped in to start the last two games for the Falcons. He has thrown for 666 yards and seven touchdowns and completed more than 70% of his passes.
Wilson has a 116.8 quarterback rating, which would lead the league if he had thrown enough passes to qualify, and on the year, he has completed 69% of his passes.
“That has just really been unbelievable,” Falcon Coach Jerry Glanville said. “The two games that he’s played, you couldn’t ask any quarterback to play any better, I don’t care who the quarterback is.”
Wilson, who will be a free agent Feb. 1, didn’t want to talk about the Vikings’ revolving- quarterback situation.
“You know, I dealt with that all my career up there and I’d just as soon not comment on their situation,” Wilson said. “They’ve got enough wins to get them into the playoffs, and I’ll let it go at that.”
