CASTAIC : Escaped Inmate Remains at Large

Share

A man convicted of burglary who escaped from the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho in Castaic earlier this week remained at large Friday evening, jail officials said.

Salvador Luna, 30, who had been sentenced to 90 days in jail Tuesday, arrived at the minimum security facility Wednesday and spent a day there before escaping, jail officials said.

Luna, who was supposed to be released March 7, was last seen about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, clad in a green Los Angeles County jumpsuit, running down The Old Road away from the facility.

Another inmate who was apprehended just outside the jail’s fences apparently was fleeing with Luna, Cmdr. Bob Spierer said. That inmate, whose name was not released, was scheduled to be released Jan. 23, he said.

The two are believed to have pushed down some razor wire topping the fence surrounding the jail, and, using a jacket to protect themselves from being cut, climbed over the fence, Spierer said.
