PREP SIGNINGS

Esperanza volleyball players Chris Pitzak and Brad Goldston signed letters of intent with Brigham Young, Aztec Coach Kurt Kersten said Thursday.

Pitzak, a 6-foot-4 setter, and Goldston, a 6-3 1/2 outside hitter, earned first-team All Southern Section Division 3-A honors last season after leading the Aztecs to the section final.

Irvine’s Greg Wakeham, a 6-6 middle blocker, has committed to the University of the Pacific and plans to sign with the Tigers within a week, said his father, John Wakeham.

Wakeham, an all-South Coast League volleyball player last season, chose Pacific over Brigham Young and UC Irvine.
