Perry, who is bound for UCLA on an athleticscholarship, made her final high school meet fruitful, leading El Toro to its first Southern Section team title in swimming Friday at Belmont Plaza Pool. Perry won the 100-yard freestyle for the third consecutive season--this year in a time of 51.59 seconds--and tied Mission Viejo’s Terah Gisolo for first in the 50 free with a time of 24.00. But perhaps her most crucial performance came in helping the Chargers’ win the 200 medley relay. El Toro had qualified fourth in the event, but Perry’s butterfly leg helped the team to a season-best 1:49.13. “Michelle is a fierce competitor and she will always rise to the occasion,” El Toro Coach Sheri Ross said. “Whenever she’s challenged, she’ll meet it.” Perry was named the co-swimmer of the meet with El Dorado’s Kella Hoblick, who won the 200 individual medley (2:01.99) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.98).
