UP THEY GO: It costs a little more now to get into Disneyland. Prices went up over the weekend to $30 for adults (from $28.75) and up $1 to $24 for children ages 3 to 11. . . . Hitting the $30 line has sparked few customer grumbles, said park spokesman John McClintock, noting that Florida’s Disney World has been charging more for some time. “I don’t think the $30 mark is a psychological barrier.” . . . On opening day in 1955, admission was $1, but you had to pay 10 to 35 cents for rides such as Tomorrowland’s Autopia, the Mark Twain Steamboat and Jungle Cruise. The E tickets came later.

A CLEAR HEAD: For the second year in a row, drunk-driving arrests over Memorial Day weekend dropped statewide and on Orange County highways. . . . As of midnight Monday, the CHP reported 85 arrests here for driving under the influence, compared to 134 in 1992 and 145 in 1991. . . . CHP officials say more drivers are aware of the risks and penalties involved and are choosing “designated drivers.”

SHOREWARD: Is Seal Beach “Southern California’s last great beach town?” . . . Sunset magazine says it might well be. An “off-the-beaten-track location” has preserved its “small-town charm,” says the June issue. . . . Nathan Cohen, 70, whose Bookstore on Main Street is a local landmark, compares Seal Beach’s character to “a personable old gent who is satisfied with the status quo.”

DRY HARVEST: Santa Ana’s Alternative Repertory Theatre plans to stage Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” next season. Auditions are Saturday. . . . But there is a problem. “We’re not getting calls from any black actors,” laments the theater’s Gary Christensen. “It seems a shame that somebody is willing to do a black classic in Orange County, and we can’t get them to come to an audition.”
