Share

* Today’s schedule: La Quinta vs. Tustin, Anaheim Stadium, 1 p.m.

* Last year’s final: Corona beat Norwalk, 6-3.

* Outlook: This is the second championship game for both teams. Neither has won the title. La Quinta lost to Lompoc, 9-2, in 1979. Tustin lost to Whittier La Serna, 1-0, in 1990. . . . La Quinta has relied on Jim Livernois’ pitching all season, but especially during the playoffs. He has pitched at least two innings in every playoff game. The Aztecs need one more strong game from him. . . . La Quinta has been hitting well of late and is coming off a 10-1 victory over second-seeded Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe. Catcher Ken Granger and first baseman Zane Parkin have been the team’s key hitters all season. . . . Tustin is coming off back-to-back upsets. The Tillers beat top-seeded and undefeated Bishop Amat, 5-4, in the quarterfinals and Sea View League co-champions Irvine, 8-5, in the semifinals. . . . Tim Wilson will start for Tustin. He has been inconsistent so far in the playoffs. Wilson lasted only one inning against Walnut, then came back to beat Bishop Amat. . . . Derek Baker and Ronnie Hall give the Tillers plenty of punch. . . . Tustin has been able to manufacture runs. The Tillers scored four runs without a hit in the first innings against Irvine.
