WINDSOR HILLS : New Facilities for Foundation for Blind
The Foundation for the Junior Blind will celebrate its 40th anniversary Wednesday with the opening of its new Education Center for visually impaired children and young adults.
The new center, at 5300 Angeles Vista Blvd., has two sections. The Children’s Education Wing features an assessment center and an interactive development center and library. The Adult Education Wing has several specialized teaching centers--including computer technology, recreation and grooming, orientation and mobility--and vocational assessment.
The $1.9-million center was funded by individual and corporate donations and private foundations. The nonprofit foundation provides programs and services for visually impaired and developmentally disabled children, youths and young adults and their families, aimed at integrating students into the community at large.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
