BURBANK : Street-Sealing Work to Begin

Share

An improvement program to seal 30 miles of streets in Burbank will begin July 6, and officials have asked for the public’s cooperation.

The seal is a fast-drying mixture of oil, water and sand spread on the roadway.

Businesses and residents will be notified 72 hours before the work begins on their streets. No parking and tow-away signs will be posted on the streets 24 to 48 hours before a street is closed. Notices will be hung on doorknobs, said Dale Wagner, the city’s public works inspector who oversees the $200,000-per-year program.

“We don’t want to tow them (cars) away,” said Wagner, adding that attempts are made to contact vehicle owners first.

Between July 6 and Sept. 20, work will take place on the following streets: San Fernando Road, Victory Boulevard, Buena Vista Street, Burbank Boulevard, Keystone Street, Verdugo and Olive avenues, Whitnall Highway from Verdugo to Clark avenues, and Hollywood Way from Magnolia to Chandler boulevards.

Streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the days the seal is applied.
