Showscan and Omni Films Drop Merger Plans: Showscan Corp. said it received notice from Omni Films terminating last month’s letter of intent to combine the two companies’ operations. Culver City-based Showscan said it has also concluded that the terms of the proposed merger with Omni, of Sarasota, Fla., would not fit the best interests of its shareholders. Both firms supply growing markets for ride simulators and futuristic theaters.
