ALTADENA : Teacher Charged With Molesting Three Boys
A teacher has been charged with molesting three teen-age boys at a private school for children with learning disabilities.
James Spencer Mercer, 43, was charged with six counts of oral copulation with a person under 16 and six counts of committing lewd acts with a child 15 or older. The youths attended the Frostig Center in Altadena, where Mercer has taught for 10 years.
The alleged molestations occurred off the school grounds between September, 1989, and last month and involve three boys between the ages of 15 and 17, Deputy Dist. Atty. Marlene Sanchez said.
An investigation began about two weeks ago when one boy, who no longer attends the school, talked to a psychologist there. The psychologist contacted the Sheriff’s Department, Sanchez said.
