Investigators said Thursday that they are seeking two men suspected of shooting another person in the face during an attempted carjacking.

About 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 7200 block of Rampart Lane, where they found a wounded 41-year-old man lying in his driveway, Sgt. Ed Ethell said.

The man, whose name was withheld for his safety, had driven his car into his driveway when he saw a white Ford Explorer pull up behind him, police said. A passenger in the Ford then walked to the victim’s car door, and the victim locked the doors and rolled up his window.

The suspect then pointed a handgun at the victim, telling him to open the door and surrender his wallet and car. The victim obeyed, Ethell said.

As the victim reached for his wallet in his back pocket, the suspect shot him once, got back in the Ford and left, police said. The getaway car was last seen heading southbound on Bourbon Lane.

The bullet entered the victim’s mouth and exited through the right cheek, Ethell said, adding that the wound was not life-threatening.

There have already been three carjackings this week in the county, but the other three victims were not injured.
