Doctor May Have Put His Team to Sleep
A paramedic for a third-division soccer team in Chile has been charged with taking a $250 bribe to give sleeping pills to players on his team to slow them down for a crucial game.
Police in Los Angeles, Chile, said the paramedic admitted giving the pills to the players, telling them they were Vitamin C.
His team, Iberia, lost to Mulchen, 3-0, and missed a chance at moving to the second division.
Iberia’s president, Carlos Contreras, told the Santiago daily, El Mercurio, that the pills were the reason for his players’ poor performance.
“They showed a strange apathy and lack of coordination,” he said.
