BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Giants Put Jackson on Disabled List
Reliever Mike Jackson, injured in a collision while running to cover first base, was put on the 15-day disabled list by the San Francisco Giants.
Jackson suffered a twisted right knee Friday night in the 14th inning of a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies when first baseman Will Clark bobbled a grounder and collided with the pitcher as the two converged on the base.
The Giants said Jackson would be back in about two weeks.

The Chicago White Sox put designated hitter George Bell on the 15-day disabled list because he needs surgery for torn cartilage in his right knee.
Bell, who has been sidelined since Wednesday, is batting .227 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs.
The team recalled catcher Matt Merullo from triple-A Nashville.

Storm Davis, released after 19 appearances with the Oakland A’s, signed with the Detroit Tigers.
Davis was 2-6 with a 6.18 ERA in 62 2/3 innings for the A’s. The right-hander, who has pitched in the major leagues since 1982, has a 111-90 record and 4.06 ERA.
