COMPANY TOWN ANNEX
Partners Dicker Over American Movie Classics Cable Channel: Two of the three partners that own cable TV channel American Movie Classics are hinting they each want to buy the other out. Liberty Media Corp., which owns 50% of AMC, recently filed a letter with the Securities and Exchange Commission disclosing that it has offered to buy out its partners, Cablevision Systems Corp. and NBC, for between $150 million and $175 million. Cablevision and NBC each owns 25% of AMC. However, Cablevision Chief Executive Charles Dolan said in trade magazine Multichannel News that his company is “inclined to purchase” the shares held by Liberty Media. “We believe very much in the product and we’re now seeing whether or not we can work that out,” he said.
