Superior Will Develop New Wheels With Alcoa
Superior Industries International Inc., a Van Nuys manufacturer of cast aluminum wheels, said it has an agreement with Alcoa to develop a new line of aluminum wheels for commercial trucks and buses.
Superior did not release financial terms of the agreement, but it said successful completion of the development program will lead to a joint venture that will market wheels under the Alcoa name.
Separately, Superior said its contract to supply wheels to Ford Motor Co. has been extended for another five years.
Superior said the new contract, which replaces the one that expired this summer, covers Ford passenger cars and light trucks for model years 1994 through 1998. Superior did not release the value of the contract with Ford, saying only that it was substantial. Superior received its first contract from Ford in 1973.
