Transient Sets Himself on Fire at Capitol Park
SACRAMENTO —
A transient sitting on a Capitol Park bench poured lighter fluid over himself and ignited it in an apparent suicide attempt, State Police said.
The man, a park regular, was taken to University Medical Center with severe burns, Capt. Glen Glaser said.
Glaser said police officers on regular patrol had talked with the man half an hour before he ignited himself, but the man did not seem upset. “He didn’t indicate there was any problem whatsoever,” Glaser said. “He was out here feeding squirrels.”
