Woodbridge Defense Dominates Tustin, 28-0
Woodbridge dominated the game on both sides of the ball Friday night at Tustin, holding the Tillers to 114 yards total offense and winning, 28-0, at Tustin High.
Quarterback Matt Sauk took the Warriors (7-3, 4-3) 65 yards in four plays on the opening drive. Gary Young capped the drive with a 27-yard touchdown run with 10 minutes 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Gavin Crew and the rest of the Warrior defense pressured Tustin quarterback Brandon Wilson. On the first possession by the Tillers, Crew hit Tustin running back Jon Lauderdale, causing him to fumble, and recovered on the Warrior 46. On the next play, Young had an impressive over-the-shoulder reception for 38 yards. Two plays later, the Warriors scored on a 12-yard pass from Sauk to Brent Ainsworth with 5:28 remaining in the first quarter.
The Tiller defense held the Warriors scoreless for the rest of the half, but the offense was unable to move the ball.
Woodbridge started the second half the same way as the first, taking the ball 48 yards on its opening drive and finishing it on Sauk’s one-yard run with 8:23 left in the third quarter.
