Bullfrogs Use Draft Pick in Trade for Scorer

The Bullfrogs traded their first-round pick in Saturday’s Roller Hockey International draft to the San Diego Barracudas in exchange for Max Middendorf, one of the league’s top scorers last season.

Middendorf had 29 goals and 18 assists in 1993 and led the league in short-handed goals with five. He is currently playing with the Ft. Wayne Komets in the International Hockey League and has eight goals and 11 assists in 18 games.

Former King goalie Rick Knickle, now with Phoenix in the IHL, was the Bullfrogs’ seventh pick, and Dan Quinn, a forward who played with Calgary, Vancouver, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Minnesota in the NHL, was the 15th.
