An unidentified man was shot to death in the hallway of a boardinghouse Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The victim, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, was shot several times in the head and was dead when police arrived at the home in the 1400 block of West Cubbon Street at 1:06 p.m., police Cpl. Jeff Armstrong said.

“The female owner of the house told investigators that she was in the kitchen at the time of the shooting and did not see the suspects or hear conversation of any type,” Armstrong said.

The woman told investigators that the victim did not live in the house and that she did not know who he was or why he was there, police said.

“She did acknowledge to investigators that she rents several rooms inside of the house and the garage to people who then sub-rent their part of the house to others,” Armstrong said.

Immediately after the shooting, witnesses told police, they saw two men running from the house. They ran east on West Cubbon Street then south on Graham Lane toward McFadden Avenue, Armstrong said.
