COLLEGE SIGNINGS : Long Beach Poly Guard Commits to Fullerton
Guard Dion Holton, a defensive specialist for Long Beach Poly High, has committed to Cal State Fullerton, according to Ron Palmer, his high school coach.
Holton, 6 feet, averaged seven points, six rebounds and five assists. “His great value to us was as a defensive player,” Palmer said. “We usually assigned him to the opposing team’s top scoring guard and sometimes even to the top forward.
“He shot 54% from the field, but as our playmaker he didn’t shoot a lot. I would expect him to score more in a college system than he did for us because college play is more open.” Palmer said other schools recruiting Holton included UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Montana and Portland.
