SANTA ANA : 1,000 Are Expected at Special Olympics
About 1,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend Mater Dei High School’s ninth annual Special Olympics on Saturday, a spokeswoman said.
The track-and-field meet will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. More than 300 athletes are expected to compete in the meet. Events will be coordinated primarily by Mater Dei students, spokeswoman Sue Harrison said.
“This is a great tradition here at Mater Dei. It’s one of the kids’ favorite events of the year,” she said.
