INGLEWOOD : Council Approves New Rescue Vehicles
The City Council unanimously approved a Visitor’s Assistance Program on Thursday that will put brightly colored rescue vehicles on Inglewood streets to help stranded motorists.
The council had to approve the program because employees and operations will be managed by the city, said Assistant City Manager Norman Cravens. However, costs of the program will be paid by the nonprofit corporation Partners for Progress.
Three rescue vehicles will cost about $60,300, Cravens said. In addition, salaries and benefits for three part-time special enforcement officers, uniforms, and vehicle maintenance and operation will be about $82,000.
The project is part of a long-range program to make visitors to the Forum and Hollywood Park feel safer, he said.
